Silvia Schiaffino
Flutist

Italian flutist Silvia Schiaffino is known for her warm, expressive sound and a musical instinct that brings depth and poetry to the stage. Her artistic path has taken her from early acclaim in Italy to an international concert career with performances across Europe and North America.

A former student of Emilio Vapi at Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado, Milan, she completed the full academic curriculum in just two years, graduating with distinction. Further studies followed with Michele Marasco, Domenico Alfano (Teatro Comunale di Bologna), and Bruno Cavallo, First Flute of Teatro alla Scala. She was later selected by James Galway as one of only twenty flautists worldwide to participate in his international flute festival in Weggis (Switzerland), and continued her studies with Jean Ferrandis in France, Berten D'Hollander in Belgium, and Raphaëlle Truchot Barraya (Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo).

Silvia Schiaffino has appeared at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall in New York (debut in 2024), and the Columbus Citizens Foundation in Manhattan. She performs regularly in cities such as Milan, Genoa, La Spezia, Rapallo and Savona, and has toured internationally as part of a flute-guitar trio with Renato Procopio and Federico Briasco. A committed educator, she has taught and adjudicated at the Festival Internacional de la Flauta (Universidad Nacional de Música, formerly Conservatorio Nacional de Música, Lima).

Her repertoire ranges from Bach, Telemann and Mozart to Ferroud, Jolivet and Piazzolla, and includes works from the Romantic to the contemporary era – reflecting her versatility and artistic curiosity across different styles and periods.

Her recent album Journey to the Orient was released in 2025 by Dynamic Records and is distributed by Naxos International Ltd. The recording received critical acclaim and reflects her openness to cross-cultural programming – extending beyond the boundaries of the classical canon.

Upcoming engagements include performances in Tuscany and a return to Casa Verdi, Milan.

Silvia Schiaffino combines lyrical tone, stylistic precision and a wide-ranging repertoire into an artistic signature that places tradition and contemporary perspective in meaningful relation.
