Ketevan Gavasheli
Soprano
Georgian soprano Ketevan Gavasheli, currently based in Milan, is a graduate of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees between 2010 and 2016. She subsequently continued her studies at the Renata Tebaldi – Mario Del Monaco International Academy in Pesaro (2016–2017), performing in concerts throughout Italy. From 2022 to 2025, she was a young artist at the Elena Obraztsova International Academy of Music.
Her stage experience includes productions at the Tbilisi State Opera House (2013–2016) as well as leading roles at the Grand Hall of the Tbilisi Conservatoire. Among her operatic roles are Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Musetta (La bohème), Gilda (Rigoletto), Frasquita (Carmen), and the First Lady (Die Zauberflöte). In 2022 she made her role debut as Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Elena Obraztsova Festival, followed in 2024 by Leïla (Les pêcheurs de perles) under the same auspices.
Her broader repertoire includes Norina (Don Pasquale), Elvira (I puritani), Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), and Violetta (La traviata). In May 2024, she gave a solo recital in Miami (USA); in October 2024 she made her Carnegie Hall debut in New York, following her First Grand Prize at the Manhattan International Music Competition.
Ketevan has participated in international festivals such as the “January Musical Evenings” in Brest (Belarus, 2015–2018), the Čiurlionis Festival in Palanga (Lithuania, 2018), and the Tauride Classical Music Festival in Kherson (Ukraine), where she appeared in solo recitals. She has taken part in master classes with Ildar Abdrazakov (2022, 2023) and in 2024 with Alessandro Svab. That same year, she performed in a gala concert dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff, alongside Ildar Abdrazakov and Veronika Dzhioeva under the baton of Fabio Mastrangelo.
Recent competition highlights include:
– First Grand Prize – Manhattan International Music Competition (2024)
– 2nd Prize – Mozart International Competition, Vienna (2024)
– 2nd Prize – European Virtuoso Music Awards, Berlin (2025)
In 2025, she was selected as a scholarship holder at Opernfest Prague, working with conductor Jaroslav Kyzlink and opera director David Alden.
Ketevan Gavasheli is praised for her radiant lyricism, expressive intelligence, and stage presence marked by both elegance and emotional depth—qualities that continue to shape her path as a promising soprano on the international scene.
