Hoviv Hayrabedian
Conductor

Hoviv Hayrabedian began his musical journey at the Conservatoire de Marseille, where he graduated in clarinet, chamber music, and choral conducting. He went on to refine his artistry at the Haute École de Musique de Genève and later at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, studying with Ronald van Spaendonck and Robin Engelen. He holds Master's degrees in both clarinet and orchestral conducting.

As a clarinetist, he is a member of the World Armenian Orchestra under the baton of Alain Altinoglu  - an ensemble of Armenian-origin musicians founded in commemoration of the Armenian genocide centenary. From 2017 to 2019, he served as principal clarinet of the Orchestre de la Francophonie (OF) in Montréal and has also performed with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic, and the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Air Force.

In 2019, he was appointed assistant conductor of the Orchestre de la Francophonie and made his conducting debut that same year at Canada’s National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Shortly after, he led a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 at the Festival Courants d’Airs in Brussels, conducting an orchestra formed especially for the occasion.

Inspired by this experience, he founded his own ensemble in 2021: the Orchestre BruMe. With this orchestra, he has conducted cornerstone repertoire including Beethoven’s first three symphonies, Debussy’s La Mer, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, and de Falla’s El Amor Brujo. He has also championed contemporary music, premiering works by Alexandros Markeas (Intermezzo Cantabile) and Alex Recio Rodriguez (Historia d’Histories, Synaptic Symphonies).

A frequent guest with leading European ensembles, Hayrabedian has collaborated with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra (LVSO), the PKF – Prague Philharmonia, and Musicatreize, among others. Since 2025, he has served as Principal Guest Conductor of Musicatreize, making his debut with the ensemble in a new orchestration of Claude Terrasse’s operetta Les Travaux d’Hercule, arranged by Jean-Christophe Marti.

He currently conducts the Zinnechoeur vocal ensemble and the Philharmonie Royale de Jette (Belgium). In addition, since 2023, he has held the position of Professor of Choral Conducting at the Conservatoire de Cambrai in France.
