Stanley Wilson

Under the baton of Maestro Gil Rose, Stanley Wilson has sung such roles as Bardolph in Sir John in Love at Opera Boston as well as Simon Stimson in Our Town and Saint Stephen in Four Saints in Three Acts with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP). At St. Petersburg Opera, he performed the role of Elder Hayes in Susannah with Maestro Mark Sforzini. With Maestro Stephen Osgood, he sang the role of Tanzmeister in Ariadne auf Naxos.
Further engagements include Bardolfo in Falstaff with Maestro William Weibel at Opera in the Heights, the Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Le Remendado in Carmen, Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Tinca in Il Tabarro, Gerardo in Gianni Schicchi, Gastone in La Traviata, Lorenzo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette, Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte, Goro in Madama Butterfly, Dr. Blind in Die Fledermaus and Hirte in Tristan and Isolde as well as Mime in Das Rheingold with Maestro Hugh Keelan at TUNDI Productions.
Wilson has worked with stage directors such as Ken Cazan, Thaddeus Strassberger, Robert Woodruff and Bill Fabris.
He has worked with conductor Christopher Shepard in performances of Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor. Other concert performances includes Handel’s Israel in Egypt and Judas Maccabeaus, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Haydn’s Mass in the Time of War, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, the premier of Gwyneth Walkers’ Come Life, Shaker Life, Schubert’s Mass in B-flat and Mass in E-flat, and the Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio.
Wilson was honored to work with Evelyn Lear under the sponsorship of her and Thomas Stewart Emerging Singers Program to explore the role of Loge. He was a semi-finalist in the Armel Opera Competition and sang for renowned pianist Martin Katz in a masterclass.
He has presented many solo recitals including works by Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Clara Schumann, Brahms, Liszt, Fauré, Henri Duparc, Debussy, Boulanger, Roger Quilter, Vaughan Williams, Bridge and Elgar.
He has also released two CDs with pianist Malcolm Halliday: Schumann’s "Dichterliebe and Liederkreis" and "Art Songs of the British Romantics".
Born in the United States, Stanley Wilson studies with Metropolitan Opera Artist Sondra Kelly and coaches with Kamal Khan in New York City.
